GL Holding and Urban Mobility Systems Join Forces to Drive Green Energy Revolution in UAE

GL Holding (GLH), a prominent player in the energy sector, has inked a momentous partnership agreement with Urban Mobility Systems (UMS), a leading Dutch company in the green energy sector. The agreement was signed in Abu Dhabi under the patronage of the Ministry of Economy, reflecting the UAE's commitment to embracing modern global technologies in the green energy domain.

The signing ceremony was graced by Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Gerard Paul Marie Hubert Steeghs, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the UAE. This strategic alliance aims to diversify the UAE's national economy through sustainable initiatives while harnessing the expertise of international partners.

Dr. Al Zeyoudi emphasized the UAE's ambition to attract cutting-edge technologies in the green energy sector, recognizing the private sector as a vital partner in the country's development journey. The partnership with UMS aligns with the UAE's vision to promote sustainability and clean energy solutions, especially during the Year of Sustainability, leading up to COP28.

The collaboration between GLH and UMS has a key objective: to bolster clean energy production in the UAE. The creation of the largest electric power battery and generator facility in the Middle East is a significant stride towards the nation's sustainable future. The venture aims to transfer advanced green technologies from the Netherlands to the UAE and to convert heavy civil and military equipment into emission-free machinery.

Ali Mohammed Al Mulla, CEO of GLH, expressed his confidence in the UAE's investment-friendly environment, which attracted UMS to join hands in building the eco-friendly battery facility. The strategic partnership underscores the UAE leadership's commitment to fostering innovative clean energy investments.

"We aspire to contribute to our production in strengthening national industries, by exporting products bearing the 'Made in the Emirates' label to European and Australian markets," said Al Mulla.

GLH and UMS have their sights set on replacing combustion fuel with clean energy in heavy equipment, introducing precision cables, batteries, and power generators for civil and military applications. The collaboration also emphasizes sharing green energy technology and knowledge with national engineers and technicians to reduce carbon emissions.

In addition, the partnership focuses on establishing a research and development management center dedicated to clean energy and carbon reduction in the UAE. This technology transfer will pave the way for sustainable development and offer employment opportunities for local talents.

Lars Kool, CEO and Head of Technology at UMS, highlighted the mutual commitment of the partnership to advancing the local industry, enhancing national income, and exploring new opportunities in European and Australian markets.

The partnership agreement marks the beginning of an exciting journey toward technological innovation, shaping the national industry, and facilitating the transfer of green technology. Both entities are dedicated to providing 'Made in the Emirates' products and boosting the UAE's role as a sustainable global leader.

As the UAE takes strides towards a sustainable and green future, this partnership with UMS solidifies its commitment to embracing green energy technologies and creating a cleaner and greener environment. The collaboration aims to transform the energy landscape and bolster the nation's economic growth through innovative and eco-friendly solutions.

The alliance between GL Holding and Urban Mobility Systems sets the stage for groundbreaking projects that will leave a positive impact on the environment and drive the UAE's transition towards a green economy. With this strategic partnership, the UAE continues to position itself as a leading advocate for sustainability and innovation in the global energy landscape.
